DATOS ECOLOGICOS PARA Coilodes
castanea (COLEOPTERA:SCARABAEIDAE: HYBOSORINAE).

Resumen
|
Desde 1980, se han realizado muestreos
tanto periódicos como esporádicos, para obtener información
sobre insectos con hábitos coprófagos y necrófagos
en los Estados Táchira y Mérida. Los muestreos periódicos
se hicieron a través de cuatro estudios y su duración fue
de tres a treinta y cinco meses.
Las trampas de hoyo utilizadas en general
contentan cebo de pescado (Lepophidium profundorum, Gill
, otras utilizaron estiércol. Los resultados indican que la
especie Coilodes castanea Westwood aparece en forma cíclica
de seis a siete meses, pero nunca este ciclo se ha registrado durante
los meses Enero y Febrero. Cuando
el ciclo se inicia, se captura un número bajo de ejemplares, luego
se pueden capturar varios cienes y finalmente desaparece en la misma manera
que apareció. En Mesa de Aura a 1900 m.s.n.m. se capturó
en 1981, desde Junio hasta Diciembre; en Palo Gordo a 1000 m.s.n.m. entre
1982 y 1984, desde Abril a Septiembre; y en Rubio a 800 m.s.n.m. en 1982,
se colectó durante todo el muestreo de cinco meses, desde Marzo
a Julio. Estas observaciones señalan que altura sobre el nivel
del mar el ciclo se inicia al principio del año y en alturas mayores
esto sucede meses después. El número de capturas registrado
cada mes no demuestra una relación entre la precipitación
mensual o la temperatura promedio mensual registrada para la zona
correspondiente. A través de la revisión de colecciones
nacionales se obtuvo mayor información sobre la distribución
geográfica de la especie; se añaden datos que incluyen por
primera vez el territorio Brasilero. La distribución altitudinal
de esta especie hasta ahora conocida se ubica entre los 140 y los 2500
m.s.n.m.

Abstract
|
Since 1980 sporadic and regular colecting
of mainly coprophagous and necrophagous insects have been done in the States
of Táchira and Mérida. The regular collecting
was done in four different studies, which lástéd from
three te thirty-five month. Pit-fali
traps were used, some were baited with fish (Lepophidium
profundorum, Gill, others with dung. The results indicate
that Coilodes castanea Westwood has a cyclic apparance, which
lasts six te seven month. No specimens have been yet collected during
the month of January ánd February. This cycle always begins with
just a few specimens beeing collected,
later severas hundreds can be cought and
finally the species disappears in the same way as it appeared.
In Mesa de Aura, at 1900 metros above
sea level, in 1981, specimens were
collected between June and December; in
Palo Gordo, at 1000 metres above
sea level, between 1982 and 1984, this
species was collected from April te
September; and in Rubio, at 800 metres above sea level, in 1982,
specimens were obtained throughout the five month collecting from March
te July. These observations indicate that nearer the sea level the
cycle stars during the firts month of the year, higher up this occurs in
the latter month. No relation was found between numbers registered each
month and the mounthly rainfall or the mean mounthly temperature measured
in that area. The revision of national museums provided additional information
on the geographic distribution of this species, and for the first time
also a location was found for Brasil. The altitudinal range so far know
is between 140 to 2500m. |
