Objectives and purposes
 The
University of the Tachira State is an institution oriented to
the search of the truth, to strengthen man's transcendent values,
and to the realization of a teaching, investigation, and expanding
functions, also the complementary activity of goods and services.
It is an institution of experimental character with an acceptable
 dynamics
structure to the rehearsal of new orientation related with the
man's integral development; the search of excellence levels
in the teaching-learning process; the innovation in the educational
administration, the creation, the promotion and the adaptation
of technologies in agreement with the regional and national
environment; as well as the participation in studies that lead
to the social, economic, and cultural technological development
of the region. The university's organization projects and programs
will be under permanent evaluation.
Objectives

To form human resources of university level
that demands the nation, with the special orientation to
satisfy the necessities of the region, whose studies drive
to proposals of cultural, economic and social development
of the area.

To offer optimum level academic programs
in conformity with the region and the country's reality,
assisting their necessities to short, middle and long term.

To evaluate their academic programs systematically
with the purpose of their scientific and technological remain
updated.

To carry out studies and to cooperate in
programs of scientific and technological investigation,
specially related with the regional problems.

To establish cooperation bonds with other
universities, and national or foreigner organisms to exchange
experiences that redound in benefit of the programs of the
university.

To elevate the cultural and technical professional
level of the region, developing programs of graduated degree
and of university extension.

To stimulate the shaping of criticizes spirit
in the university community propitiating all the scientific
forms of analysis of the knowledge and the investigation
allowing the free expression of all ideology and promoting
the knowledge and debates of the different forms of thought.

To promote the conservation and rational
use of the national natural resources.

To promote within the university's field
of action the integrity of our nations.

To develop educational programs of experimentation,
to carry out the systematic evaluation of the activity and
results obtained.
